Are you a fan of the news and finding out the lastest and greatest information before anyone else? Well Taptu might be for you then.
Upon launching the app you are presented with a clean, elegant looking menu this will be your news feeds. The menu is presented in rows that you scroll through horizontally. This is a great way to browse any content and it provides the app with ease of use and allows the reader to enjoy themselves.
To the top right of the app there are 4 buttons/links these allow you to recommend the app via a number of ways, twitter, Facebook etc and recomend a feature to the developer for a future update. The next button allows you to “merge” streams. This function as you can guess allows you to merge two or.more sources say, engadgt and techcrunch togeher to save space and time, this is a great feature of Taptu and one which I use regually. The next button allows the addition of more streams, which you can pick from topics, featured or import “feeds” from your gmail account. The last button being the refresh all streams button.
Upon touching a piece of news the user is presented with a partition of the content with a button in the bottom corner to view the original passage. There is also a link to post the news content to mutiple social sites and email.
I use this app mutiple times a day to get my “fix” on tech,Android and other news in general. Not only does the app provide a quick and elegant way to view the news it also features a vast amount of streams and the get ability to share content with my twiiter followers via a quick button. I would reccomend this app to anybody who likes to be in the know.

Moving to Android, the way forward….

So last week I decided to get a new phone, I thought I should get rid of my iPhone 3g s, so what would be a worthwhile upgrade iPhone 4 maybe. Well no. Simply put it would cost me too much of £450 in the UK. So I decided to get a android phone, maybe it was because it is cheaper I picked up a HTC desire s for £400 only £50 I know but is it worth it. Yes it is, with a 1ghz processor and 800mb of RAM it is fast and with a S-LCD display is better than the iPhone 3g s. But why did I move to android what better does it offer than ios well I decided to tell you today.
Simply put ever user is suited to a different OS system on a phone and weather it be ios, windows phone 7 or android and user must decided what suits them best for there everyday needs. Android offers for me a great way to keep everything together, simply entering my Gmail account allows everything to be synced with it upon choice, calenders, contacts and even notes without hassel. I have also found may options through certain apps that allow me to simply put music on my phone wirlessy and fast which could not be archived on a iPhone without jailbreaking, android does this out of the box. Personalized windows is also another big incentive for me as I like customizing things. HTC offers many ways of personalizing things through the use of skins and beautiful Widgets. Widgets provide a great way of getting relevant information without opening apps up, something which I think ios was missing and hope they anounse it with ios 5 this summer. Fair enough though the android app store is not as good as apple app store but in time it will get better. In all Android for me is a great option and I’m loving using it more than I did with ios. It provides me with a great phone OS and is veg easy to use and work and many people l, just like with ios are willing to hack the software and customize it differnetly all the time. Would I recommend Android, yes but with caution for people who like things simpler and maybe easy to use ios will be better but again it depends on the user. Comment and tell me what you think?

Canned is a app created by sky balloons who currently have 1 other app on the app store.
Canned is a simple utility app that allows users to create templates and send them to people later on when required. It is a great app that is very useful for sending the same text to people over again like ‘ how are you? ‘ etc. It’s simple interface means anyone can use it no matter what ability they have.
Canned can also be used as a group text system just simply open the app add some recipients and save. Next time you open up the app to those people you can simply send the text you want to them.
Overall I am loving Canned a lot and for people who text a lot saying things like ‘how are you?’ or ‘hello’ this app will not only save you time but will also cut down on the chance of a mistake.

Overall: 8.5/10 Best app of it’s kind and a bargain at 59p.

Review: zMatch

zMatch is a match 3 game with new twists and the game has been created by zGames who already have 5 apps on the app store.
zMatch a match 3 genre game is a excellent addition to the apps on my home screen. The game has accelerometer based controls to tilt the shapes around trying to match them up. The game has a time limit which is indicated on the side of the screen in the form of a fuse. Touch the match at the top corner and it will fall into the shapes and light up other shapes around it therefore destroying your bones. The game also has ‘power ups’ which included explosives and a extinguisher.
The visuals in this game are something to be admired and in my opinion are if not better than Zen Bound 2. The sleek colours and eye popping effects daze your mind.
The high scores are kept in the form of openfeint and the game also has achievements.
Overall the game is super and for 59p its a bargain, maybe i would have liked to see more game modes to the game though but its early days and updates are assured. Deferentially a seal and well recommend.

Review: WordZinga By MT Apps.

I recentally stumbled upon a rarther interesting word game through my twitter account. WordZinga is a game deleloped by 2 full time works in 4 months of hard work. There app WordZinga has recentally appeared in the app store. WordZinga is not like the usual word games on the app store, most being like scrabble, think Words with Friends. But instead takes a diffrent approach. In WordZinga it give you so many letters of a word weather it be 2 or 3 letters and allows you to finish the word of. Sounds simple i know but i soon got to learn that it is a hard game with up to someware around 100 rounds it gets increasally difficult.
Im currentally rancked 20th i know 20th right, but wait out of 22 people and my score
of 23 against the leaders of 33607750, a bit more pratice i think. The game is great looking on my iPhone 3GS and
very stable. Online leader boards and achivemnets are powered from Openfeint for all you high score and achivemnet junkies out there.
The game has a relaxing carm and a natura type of music with birds singing and other various sound effects.
All in all i think ive said enough if you love word games of any kind you should deffentally get this fun, enjoyable app. The asking price of £1.19 is deffentally a bargain and offers a lot of content for you buck.

Mega Jump FREE

Mega Jump (£.59 -> Free): A jumping game without platforms. Tilt and turn your device in order to collect coins, which boost your character higher and higher. Power-ups are scattered all over each of the 10 levels, but so are enemies and obstacles, so be careful. As you progress through the game you earn mega points, which can be used to purchase new in-game items. The game features OpenFeint integration as well.

Mega Jump is available for free today only (8/6). It has a four-star rating, and a total of 328 ratings.

Promo Contest + REVIEW: Sonic Slug Bricks

I recentally had the opportunity to beta test Sonic slug bricks so have seen it on its journey through its development. The development team Glimmer-wave software is new to the app store with this game as there first game on the app store.
The game is based on the brick breaker genre but adds some interesting additions. First off the UFO at the top of the bricks is trying to take the carrots from underneath the slug so this adds a very interesting twist to the
Game. Secondly you have the option to create in game sounds yourself through the Soundcloud system within the game. I’ve had a go with this feature and it makes the game a lot more personal.
I enjoyed the visuals a lot and they are something to be enjoyed and admired.
Overall I think this game has a lot of potential and is a defiant gem on the app store with it’s excellent gameplay and features.

Lights, Camera, Design the Springboard!!!

One of the most antisipated features of iOS 4 was that you could change the wallpaperon your springboard ( Homescreen).Today i will be looking at two very diffrent apps that let you customise your springboard in many ways.

Labels is a customizer tool the use the new function of your background on your springboard. It allows you to single out and highlight the app icons to your liking in various colours. This app is great but dont get to excited as it can make your springboard look a bit too messy. It simply allows you to choose your design and a background image and then it saves it to your photo library to put as a home screen background. I really do recommend it for only 59p.

Another great if not better tool is AppButler – App Organizer. This app is great for organizing the home screen by games photography entertainment etc. It lets you design a icon in the app weather it be a icon break ( Blank icon as such) App icon like games or a number icon for layouts of the pages. It allows you to choose various colours too. After you’ve designed it it will bring you to safari and let you preview the icon. Then you need to select add to home screen to add the icon to the home screen as a web app. Its all very clever. Images with boths apps and my home screen after the break.
